On my plans for Dungeons and Dragons

Dungeons and Dragons is a game that was famous in the 80's. Up to today people still play this pen and paper RPG. I'm interested in playing D&D. So as a result of my interest: I plan to DM an adventure on Halloween with my friends. I'm not sure if I will be able to play but the plan is there and some of the interest in the players is there. I'm excited to play this game because for a long time, I have been planning to play D&D for as long as I can remember. Being in an all girl Catholic school, you can tell it would be pretty hard to come by interested players.

Here in the Philippines, D&D is not so much a popular game. Its freaking hard to find books and kits that can get you started playing the game. I've seen a few back in the days when I was in 5th grade, lurking around game shops as my mom bought clothes. However, I never seen a single one at these time. Not even the new manuals for the 4th edition,  never even got a glimpse of it here. I am now faced with a conflict: I don;t have books or resources. Sure, I could get them online but I do not read from electronics. I find it very hard to concentrate when reading from an LCD screen. PDFs could also be a solution, but I would be pirating and I am completely against pirating these thing. I plan to play the game and I plan to play it to support Wizards of The Coast.

The month of October has been full of research about D&D, how to play it, and how to DM. Naturally, as the one most interested I am going to be DM in our first ever campaign. As I have read as DM I get to choose what exactly to play. As mentioned we have a problem: the lack of books and resources. Luckily though as I do every year, I watch the celebrity D&D game in PAX, "Acquisitions Incoporated" .  As I watched I, of course, noticed a change in the game and as Wil Wheaton has said repeatedly in game they were playing D&D Next. D&D Next is, obviously, the next edition for D&D. Luckily, Wizards of The Coast is having a playtest. As eager as I can be joined the playtest at a heartbeat.

My conflict is resolved I will play D&D Next on Halloween. With the PDFs provided by Wizards, I am happy that not only am I supporting on of the best game manufacturers, I am also learning to play a rather intriguing RPG.

Words cannot describe how excited I am for our little session.

Oh! Also, Gravity Falls premieres on the day of Trick or Treating so... double happiness!

Wii is a stupid name.

It's the new year. Yeah, like 6 days ago. Anyways I had just recently bought a Wii and of course, I got Skywards Sword. Hellz yeah, I got it. I've always thought the Wii was a nightmare of a video game console. Which still, in my eyes, still is (sort of). Video games to me were the reason I should be lazy as hell and just chill. I hate physical exertion; my body disagrees with me when I'm moving a lot. It's not like I want to be lazy, it's just how my body reacts to moving, getting tired, and sweating. And seriously, who would want to be around me when I'm sweating? That's right, no one. But, the Wii is just how I can get my hands on Nintendo games.
I'm a big fan of Nintendo. I had the original Gameboy, Gameboy SP, and Nintendo DS Lite. I never bought a N64 or Gamecube. I had a PS1 and I grew up loving Crash Bandicoot. But even before we had the PS1 we had a Famicom. My experience with the Famicom is kind of blurry because ours was sold when I was 5. All I remembered was a bunch of Japanese games and Super Mario. Mario, Goombas, Pipes, Mushrooms, etc. are embedded in my mind as a happy thought and memory. And I played though Super Mario Bros. Wii I had that same feeling of frustrations and fun. It's cool now that I have a new and proper Nintendo console and the Wii is a big 1UP from the Famicom. I guess, what I'm trying to say is: even though I have had bitch slapped this console for years, there's just one thing that made me want to have one, and that's the games. The Legend of Zelda, Super Smash Bros., Sonic The Hedgehog, Super Mario Bros., Metroid, etc, are the reasons I got one. They are enjoyable and though they are modern games I still get the sense of nostalgia in them.

To sum it all up: I think the Wii is a stupid name and the thing is a piece shit. But, you know what? That thing is my shit.

All I want for Christmas is you... or Skyrim or Zelda, or AC Revelations

Gah. Why do so many good games have to come on holiday season? (Marketing, duh) All I want to do for the Christmas season is to play Skyrim or Assassin's Creed on my Xbox and not go outside for the whole duration of the break. Not to mention the Doctor Who Christmas special is coming. Doctor Who aside, I WANT TO PLAY THESE FRAKKEN GAMES!

Back to the video games, I've been in love the Elder Scrolls series and Skyrim is just what I need from the break from Oblivion (which I rated as, meh). Skyrim looks amazing: the graphics, the magic, the excitement in playing it, it's breathtaking. I've played the Elder Scrolles games on my PC, but I think it's about time I bought some decent games for my Xbox since it's usually played by little children and drunk college students (shout out to the guy that puked on my black controller, now I'm forced to use my white controller that has a busted B button).  Skyrim might be a step-up to a better console experience. On Skyrim I can play countless hours doing whatever the hell I want from getting eaten by bears or just punching bastards.

On the other hand, some of my friends have been going on and on about the new Assassin's Creed: Revelations. I believe it's the last of the franchise (but hopefully not because it's a REALLY GOOD game). The video above is a video from Hank Green of the vlogbrothers. He has played through Brotherhood and has guided me in the game (but for the most part the nerdfighters helped me in my times of confusion). This game just looks so epic and with the story it brings makes me more excited to get it. I'd probably buy this first before Skyrim. I don't know why but I feel more compelled in playing this game along with my comrades than just playing Skyrim by myself.

And finally, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. As of current I'm watching Katherine's play though on the hanksgames channel and Jason Munday's play through on LukesArcade, which can be seen above. I don't own a Wii, my grandmother has one in her house we only use it for family gatherings and such. So, this kinda makes me want to buy my own Wii that I don't have enough money for so... oh well. But I just had to put this in since The Legend of Zelda has been part of my childhood. Ocarina of Time, has to be my favorite one. And the fact that Skyward Sword is the greatest game of the year, makes want to have one of these babies.

I guess that's everything. I'm just so obsessed with the games that went out this year. I really want to start playing them right now. I wish it would just magically appear into my hands.
